PUBLIC PRIVATE COLLABORATION PROJECT. IMPROVEMENT OF COMMON BEAN VARIETIES THROUGH KNOWLEDGE-BASED BREEDING STRATEGIES TO DIVERSIFY AND STIMULATE THE AGRI-FOOD SECTOR +BEAN. CPP2021-008697

The general objective of the project is to develop products based on new bean varieties with improved properties, adapted to production systems that ensure environmental sustainability, and with qualities and industrial aptitudes not achieved until now. For that purpose, +BEAN will implement knowledge-driven breeding strategies and the application of innovative technologies in the agri-food sector. The proposed objective is of concern for society (consumer, producer) and for the agri-food sector, since the agricultural market is much more competitive today than a few years ago, having to meet high requirements imposed by the EU regulations.

This public-private collaboration project has received funding from the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the State Research Agency and the European Union, within the State Program to Promote Scientific-Technical Research and its Transfer, of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Project PLANT PATHOLOGY CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF HORTICULTURAL DISEASES. 101N1800083

The objective of this project is to have its own phytopathology center in Almería that allows Ramiro Arnedo to select, independently, both the company’s own materials and those available in public and private genebanks around the world, thus creating our own know-how and thus protecting the main interests of the company. In the same way, and to remain competitive, it is essential to have rapid access to techniques and new knowledge in phytopathology, this being the main result of this project. The management of this knowledge allows us to optimize work processes and minimize delays, ensuring that the plant material presents the desired characters and is available and accessible to the genetic improvement team.

An incentive of €197,847.86 has been received from the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia IDEA, of the Andalusian Government, from the subsidy through the European Regional Development Fund of Andalusia (2017-2020), with the aim of ” achieve a more competitive business fabric”.
